Gordion’s Faces and Works Exhibition Opened.

The “Journey to a World Heritage Site” exhibition, “The Faces and Artifacts of Gordion,” organized at the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in collaboration with the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, the Gordion Foundation, the Anatolian Civilizations Museum, and the Gordion Excavation Directorate, opened with a ceremony attended by Ankara Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Erhan Karakaya, Polatlı District Governor Atilla Kantay, Gordion Excavation Director Prof. Dr. Brian Rose, Director of the Anatolian Civilizations Museum Yusuf Kıraç, Polatlı Municipality Culture Director Barkın Yıldırım, and Gordion Foundation President Kadim Koç. At a panel held before the opening of the exhibition, which presents unseen photographs and artifacts from Gordion’s past and present, Dr. Gareth Darbyshire, the Gordion Excavation Archives Manager, who selected the photographs for the exhibition from among 150,000 taken since the excavations at Gordion began in 1957, stated that each photograph is invaluable and that the selection process was a very difficult one for him. The exhibition will be open to visitors for one month.
